Dear Expectant Mother,

We are often reminded how small this world can be. You meet someone new and sometimes, just a few minutes into the conversation, you discover that there is a unique connection to this new person. Today our paths have crossed in a most special way.

Your life has led you down a path that has come to a crazy intersection. You may be considering a choice that is very scary, full of unknowns. Life is full of choices and in order to make the best decision for you and your baby, you are taking a brave step, arming yourself with knowledge and exploring all options available. We are grateful that you are even considering adoption and reading this letter.

We are a family that strives every day to improve and enjoy our life. We recently purchased a partially finished, 4 bedroom log home on 160 acres, adjacent to property Joe has farmed for over 10 years. We grow alfalfa hay and malt barley and raise Black Angus cows. We are super excited for this new chapter in our marriage and life. We both have full-time jobs and our son will be graduating this spring and heading off to college to be an engineer. We’ve spent the last 5 years watching Tyler play football, legion baseball, rugby and participate in his 4-H activities.

Our weekend family time is spent downhill skiing and snowmobiling in the winter and boating and water skiing in the summer and taking road trips across the state. We enjoy saddling up the horses to check cows, fences and survey the fields. And though farming and raising cattle is time consuming; there is a great satisfaction sitting on the porch at the end of the day, looking out over our land, knowing that we are preserving a unique way of life.

We are fortunate to live in a rural community that has a lot of big city amenities. We have a great theater, private Catholic college, 2 large high schools, a symphony and minor league sports teams for baseball, hockey and rugby. We are very involved with non-profit groups, working fundraisers and raising awareness in the community. We go to YMCA summer camp a couple of times each summer bringing our horses for the kids to ride and ropes for them to learn to lasso a “steer.”

While we may seem to have it all, there is still an empty hole. We’ve been trying for over 5 years to have a child. We too have explored many options, even tried a few, but with no success. So now we are hoping that through adoption we will find that missing puzzle piece to complete our lives. We can offer a child so much love and security – emotionally and financially. We are in great shape and health. We look forward to many years of being involved in 4-H, soccer, football or baseball teams, Girl or Boy Scouts or participating in whatever happens to be the extracurricular activity of the year!

We have a large extended family. Joe’s mom, dad, 2 brothers and their families and Julie’s sister’s family all live in our hometown. Joe’s oldest brother and Julie’s parents live in the town where Julie was born and raised – the same town where we met 7 years ago! There are 2 great-grandmas, 2 grandmas and 2 grandpas, and all sorts of aunts, uncles and cousins impatiently waiting for us to add to the family and bring a little baby home.

Thank you for your time in reading this letter. We wish you the best of luck on your journey and God Bless.
