Dear Expectant Mother,

“So from now until you’re here, I will pray that God’s hands of love would keep you safe, in his perfect timing and grace, I’ll be able to see your sweet face, so until that day I will wait on my chosen adopted one.” This is a verse of a song that, thanks to a dear friend, has already been written and recorded for your child. This child has already melted our hearts, and carved out their own special place there. Our names are Joseph and Shea, and first of all, thank you. Thank you for being courageous in this difficult time in your life in considering adoption; thank you for being selfless and giving another family an opportunity to love your child; and thank you for loving your child beyond measure, so much so that you are trusting another family to provide a nurturing and safe environment for your child.  So again, thank you, but words are not enough to express our gratitude. We have been faithfully praying for you and your child and feel as if your child is already a part of our family. We hope that you provide us with the opportunity to complete our loving family.

Since 2009, we have been trying to grow our family. We have lost two sons, Owen and Shields, through the process, but God has been extremely merciful and blessed us with one amazing daughter, Stella and recently we had our son, Ezra. To be Stella’s parents is an absolute honor that we cherish. She is outgoing, full of energy, giving, kind, adventurous, and most importantly she is happy. We can’t imagine our lives without her. And Ezra is a little miracle from God. We began this adoption process in April 2015 and discovered I was expecting in August that year. We believe that God blessed us with Ezra for our faithfulness in seeking out His plan for our family. While Ezra has brought a certain peace to us, we truly began healing the moment we knew God was calling us to adopt. So, we are anxiously waiting to see this little one that God has created for us.  We spend our time as a family by staying outdoors, hiking, running, playing soccer and ball, and swimming.  We also love adventures and traveling. We love to travel with Stella to different zoos, aquariums, children’s museums, historical places, and fun parks. We want our children (Stella, Ezra and your child) to experience life to the fullest. We want them to love the life God has given them and to use it to make the world a better place. We want them to be independent, faithful, creative, and courageous.  Hard work, dedication, family values, and compassion are traits we would like to instill in our children, but most of all a strong faith in Christ and the ability to display that in their daily lives is our main goal in parenting.

We are from Alabama, and we live in a beautiful little city that is nestled on a river with many nature trails and beautiful things to see. It is a great place to raise a family with many music events, festivals, and community fairs going on all the time. Our city is extremely safe and has some of the best schools in the state! It was our dream to live here with our family and now with your help, our dream is coming true.

Joseph is a wonderful father and devoted husband, and he provides a wonderful example for our children (ours plus yours) of what a father and husband should be. Our children will learn firsthand what a father and husband should be by watching him in our daily lives. He is an excellent provider and the faithful leader of our family. His loyalty to us is heartwarming. He is also a wonderful dad and cherishes his time with the child we already have.  Joseph is continuously teaching her, reading to her, and taking her on adventures.  He tries to truly enrich her life through many different things including education and life experiences, and he cannot wait to begin doing the same with your child when they become a member of our family. Joseph enjoys running, sports, reading, riding horses and has a genuine love for music. But, his favorite thing to do is reading to Stella and then tucking her into bed.

Shea enjoys running, sports, being outside, gardening, reading, and music. She is a former English teacher but now stays home with Stella. Although she truly loved teaching writing and literature to high school students and will do so again one day, staying home has allowed her the opportunity to follow a passion which is teaching the youth in our church. She is currently the Director of Youth Ministries at our church. These teens are a genuine blessing in our lives, and we love teaching them more about our faith and God. Shea has truly been called to be a mentor to teens, and in some way they have always been a part of her life.  However, her true calling is being a mom. The joy of being a mom is indescribable, and she hopes you give her the opportunity to love and cherish your child.

We pray that by reading this, you feel secure in your decision to allow your child to be a part of our family. Again, we have been waiting and fervently praying for your child for so long that they are already a part of our family and our daily lives. We leave you with this verse, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” We believe that God has brought all of us to this point in our lives for a reason, and that reason is to be a blessing to the child you are carrying and for that child to be a blessing to the world.

Thank you,
Joseph and Shea
