Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and for considering me to be the adoptive parent of your child. I’m sure this has not been easy for you and I hope I can help ease your concerns about adoption. I would love to hear about your hopes and dreams for your child and have a lot of respect for you for making such a selfless decision. I would be so grateful if you chose me.

Six years ago I decided I was ready to be a mom, but after years of trying, it became clear that I wasn’t going to be able to get pregnant. I have always felt that things happen for a reason and one of my doctors told me that I was just clearing the path for the right child to come into my life. I believe that is true and can’t wait to meet him or her. I have so much love in my heart to give your baby and will always put his or her needs above my own.

I am compassionate and have learned so much about raising children through my experiences with my niece (10) and nephew (8). Since they were babies I have had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with them, from weekend outings, to family dinners and holidays, to sleepovers at my house.

I am a kind, loving and patient person. I am creative and like to write screenplays and play guitar. I also love sports and reading. Education is important to me and has given me the ability to become a successful businesswoman with a great job that allows me to provide comfortably for a child.

You may wonder why I am single and wanting to have a baby on my own. I have always imagined I would be married to a caring and loving man, but I am also a strong, independent woman and have always felt that I would wait until I found the right man. While I hope he comes into my life someday, I want nothing more than to have a child. I have such an amazing family and friends that I know your baby will have an abundance of love and support.

With me,  your child will have loving grandparents, an uncle, aunt and two cousins who live within ten miles. We love to laugh and have fun together. We are fortunate to live on the outskirts of an active mid-sized city so we have all the opportunities a city can offer, but with the greenery and outdoor activities of a small town. On any given weekend, we can be found hiking, at a park, at a sporting event, walking around a local festival or special event like the rodeo.

We also like to travel – on our most recent family trip we went to Australia! I’ll never forget the look on my niece’s face when she got to hold a koala or how excited my nephew was when he saw the kangaroo with a little joey in its pouch hopping over to us. I love to see that joy and want your child to have the opportunity to experience new things and see all of what life has to offer.

I also look forward to the simpler moments at home with just me and my child. Whether it be snuggling up on the sofa to watch TV, teaching your little one to count to ten, or making a fort in the living room – my favorite thing to do when I was little – I will cherish every moment with your child.

What I want for your child most of all is to grow up knowing how loved he or she is – loved by me, by my family and by you, his or her birthmother, who made such a courageous decision. I want to give your child every opportunity to explore his or her interests – and support and guidance to achieve his or her own dreams. And above all to be happy.

Thank you again for considering me. I hope you will take comfort in knowing your child will be growing up in a home filled with love, laughter and encouragement.

With love and gratitude,
Linda
