Dear Expectant Mom,

My beating heart belongs to you

I walked for miles ‘til I found you

I'm here to honor you
-          Green Day, Last Night on Earth

Those are some of the lyrics from the first dance song at our wedding and sum up our relationship perfectly. Jon and I were lucky to find each other and now live to honor each other every day. While we are very happy, we have love to spare and want to share it with a child.

We can’t even begin to imagine how difficult this decision must be for you. We are so very thankful that you are considering adoption and are taking the time to get to know us.  It is difficult to give you a true picture of who we are individually and as a couple and the life that we could give to a child through a letter and some pictures. But, we are going to give it our best shot because this is extremely important to us.

Bonni grew up inMaryland with a very close family full of love. Her parents always put her and her older brother first and molded her into the generous, selfless and genuinely nice woman she is today. Two years after college, Bonni packed up what would fit in her Toyota Corolla and moved, by herself, to San Francisco. She struggled to make her way for a while, but eventually got a good job and made some lasting friendships. Two years later, her company transferred her to Illinois where she has lived ever since.

Jon grew up in Illinois with his parents and three brothers. His fondest childhood memories are spending time together as a family, whether they were driving cross country in their family motorhome or traveling internationally to Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia or Thailand. Jon went to college in Louisiana, which gave him a love for Jambalaya, Etouffee and great music. Shortly after college, Jon moved to Colorado to work, live and ski in the mountains before returning to Illinois to return to school to get a master’s degree in information systems.

Then we met. It was 8½ years ago on a Saturday night. Three days later we agreed to be exclusive and we have been together ever since. Our friends and family tell us all of the time that “it is so nice to see you both so happy.” And we are. We are happy when we are at home with our cats watching a movie together. We are happy when we are traveling internationally or within the US, alone or with friends or family. We are happy when we are spending a summer evening grilling and hanging out with family and friends on our deck. We are happy when we are doing the other things we love, such as Jon working on his car or building a model or scuba diving with his brothers, Bonni cooking a meal or reading (or listening) to a great book or taking turns working out in our gym.

A little more than a year ago, we moved to a 3,500 square foot house in an established suburb with great schools. We knew the second that we walked into our house that it was the home for us. We spent three months remodeling it to make it truly ours and now have a fantastic place that we love to call home.

The only thing that could make us happier is to have a child with whom to share our knowledge, passion for life, home and love. Jon can’t wait to teach his son or daughter how to work on cars and share his love of everything mechanical and technical. Bonni can’t wait to share her love of cooking, reading and writing and everything marketing.

It is impossible to predict the future, but one thing that we do know, is that our child will be loved by us, our friends and our family. He or she will be given every opportunity we can give to him or her and should you choose adoption, and should we be so fortunate for you to choose us, we promise that you can be confident in your choice.

Warmly,

Jon & Bonni
